Breakout Board for Stepperonline A6 Servo – DB15-HD to Screw Terminals
This compact breakout board significantly simplifies the wiring of the CN1 control port (DB15-HD) of the Stepperonline A6-EC series (EtherCAT only) for servo motors equipped with a holding brake. Instead of soldering individual wires into a 15-pin HD connector, all relevant signals are routed to clearly arranged screw terminals – ideal for machine building as well as DIY applications.
Feature Overview
1. 24V Brake Power Supply (Servo Holding Brake)
- Terminals
Vout+VinandGNDpower the circuit for External 24V supply to power the brakes- Integrated optocoupler provides galvanic isolation of the brake signal
- MOSFET switches the brake load
- Protection diode protects against voltage spikes
BRAKE+andBRAKE–connect directly to the motor brake terminals- Signal logic: Active Low – brake closed at LOW
2. 24V Daisy-Chain Power Pass-Through
VIN+VOUNTandGNDallow 24V supply to be looped through from drive to drive- Perfect for multi-axis systems: one power supply feeds multiple drives
3. Digital Inputs (DI) via 8-Pin Header (optional to solder pins yourself)
pins provide internal COM+ Voltage of +24V read servo manual for using it
| Pin | Signal | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | COM– | Common ground (DI reference) |
| 2 | DI2_NEG_LIMIT_SW 24V | Negative limit switch |
| 3 | COM– | Common ground |
| 4 | DI1_POS_LIMIT_SW 24V | Positive limit switch |
| 5 | COM– | Common ground |
| 6 | DI3_HOME_SW 24V | Home / reference switch |
| 7 | VCC+24V External Supply | 24V output External |
| 8 | BRAKE SIGNAL 24V | Brake signal input,no load ! |

Design & Assembly Notes
The breakout board is intentionally designed for single-side component assembly – all components are located on one side of the PCB. This significantly simplifies manufacturing and keeps production costs low.
Assembly sequence:
- Mount terminal block – The green screw terminals are populated
24V Power in daisy chain and the Brake wires lead to the motor - Flip the board – The PCB is then turned over to plug on the servo drive
- Secure with two screws – The included screws mechanically lock the connection in place
⚠️ Note: Due to the single-side component assembly and the plug-and-screw fixing method, the board may sit at a slight angle on the servo drive. Once secured with the two screws, a small amount of pressure is applied to the connector. This is intentional by design, ensures a firm and reliable connection, and works excellently in practice.
⚠️ Warranty & Liability Disclaimer
This product is designed for use in DIY and maker environments and is sold as-is. Please read the following carefully before purchasing:
- No reverse polarity protection is provided. Incorrect wiring, swapped polarities, or wrong voltage levels will permanently damage the board.
- No overcurrent or short-circuit protection is built in beyond the components shown in the schematic.
- The board requires basic electronics knowledge for safe and correct installation. It is not suitable for beginners without prior experience in servo wiring.
- No warranty or exchange guarantee is offered for boards damaged due to incorrect wiring, reversed connections, or improper use.
- We strongly recommend ordering a spare unit alongside your first board. This allows you to test and experiment without the risk of being left without a working solution if one board is accidentally damaged during setup.
- If in doubt, test your wiring on the bench before installing in your final application.
By purchasing this product, the buyer acknowledges that it is a DIY component and accepts full responsibility for correct installation and use.
